Open Gold Training and Practice Expedition.

Event Details

Our gold training and practice expedition programme is designed for people that need to do the whole of the gold expedition section. You can book on this event and also a later Assessed expedition.

We’ll spend 2 days in the Ilkley area of West Yorkshire covering all aspects of the DofE expedition syllabus at gold level. Food is included in the 2 day training part of the expedition. During one of the Training days we’ll swing by a local supermarket where you can buy your practice expedition food with the rest of your team.

On the third day of the event you’ll head out on your 3 Day practice expedition ending in Skipton in North Yorkshire.

You should arrive packed for the full expedition + some extra clothing for the training days. Don’t bring too much though as everything you bring must be carried for the duration of the practice expedition.

You may wish to bring some expedition food but, as explained above, there will be an opportunity to buy food before the start of the practice expedition. It is important to note that cooking of food is restricted to the campsite. If you do bring expedition food from home we do not want you to bring food that requires cooking or heating during the day. Please do get in touch if you would like further information on the reasons behind this restriction.

If you have a concern or query about equipment or are struggling to provide an item of essential equipment for any reason please get in touch and we will probably be able to lend you the items from our stores. If emailing please state the name of the event and the equipment you would like to borrow.
