As the balmy October weekend continues (and is coupled with a weird orange glow), Lupine Adventure Co-op are hoping for a cold, hard winter.
Walking in Scottish winter conditions can be hard. The days are short meaning early starts, the weather often windy and the consequences of making mistakes serious. Scottish winter days, however, can be the most beautiful, exciting, fulfilling and basically awesome that you can have in the UK's mountains.
At Lupine Adventure we run two sorts of winter trips.
1) Skills acquisition.
2) Experience and expeditions.
Winter Skills courses
We can run these for a group on dates of your choosing or you can opt to join with others on one of our open 3 day courses. In 2018 the dates for our open courses are
13-15 January 2018
On the 3 day course we usually spend the first 2 days not moving far but going up to the snow line and then drilling lots of techniques with the Axe and crampons as well as looking at the snowpack. On Day 3 we like to put it all together and go on a big walk and hopefully take in a Munro or two.

Experience days and Expeditions
If you want to get more of a feel for winter walking then you can just hire us for a day to take you on a walk or for a few days and we could go on a winter expedition. Last year we took a family on a 3 day expedition around the Cairngorms. You can see how we got on in this blog post.
