We are focusing our Duke of Edinburgh's award work close to our bases in Yorkshire and Lancashire. However, we may be able to accept work from elsewhere in the country particularly if the training element is to be carried out as a one off residential.
We recommend that teams are made up of between 5 and 7 participants. The Award will allow groups of 4 to take part, but if you have a group of 4 and one of the participants has to drop out then the team will probably have to withdraw. If you find that you do not have enough young people interested to make up a complete team this may not be a problem. As we are running expeditions for a number of groups in your area we will be able to match them up with others who are in the same position.
We can carry the expeditions out pretty much anywhere in the UK. We anticipate, however, that we will be using the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire Moors, Peak District and Lake District. If there are groups who would prefer to visit North Wales or the Scottish Highlands then these are areas that we know extremely well and we would be delighted to arrange expeditions in these locations.
We like to work around the school year, though can be flexible. We anticipate that we will be finding out numbers of participants from September to Christmas, carrying out training sessions throughout the post Christmas period and running the practice and assessed expeditions in the spring and summer.
