Ben Barnard
Ben spent much of his early years being dragged up the mountains of Snowdonia and Cumbria in the rain. Now in his 30s and a Mountain Leader he spends his time meteing out the same treatment to others.
He is based in Leeds, but takes every opportunity to get out to the hills and spend time walking, climbing and fell running. Favourite mountain areas include the Ogwen Valley in Snowdonia and the Black Cuillins on Skye, but he also has a soft spot for the Yorkshire Dales and is becoming something of a connoisseur of its lesser-known mountaineering attractions. He has also been a regular volunteer on conservation projects ranging from path maintenance to tree planting, both in The Lake District and in Yorkshire.
Ben is a qualifed ML (Mountain Leader), member of the MLTA, and is working towards the SPA (Single pitch climbing award)
He has an ongoing sporadic, and masochistic, interest in mountain endurance challenges.
